Cloud Living’s Weekly Digest 01

MIRAGE CONTENT, LINK BUILDING, VIDEO SEO, $10K/MONTH AMAZON T-SHIRT BUSINESS, AND MORE...

Welcome to the first edition of Cloud Living’s Weekly Digest – we’ve put together this newsletter to help you maneuver through the fast paced world of online marketing.

Each week, you’ll receive a curated list of content, revealing our favorite pieces of content from the week gone by (no fluff – just information you can use to grow your business).

We’re doing this simply because online marketing is ever changing – if you want to build a successful online business, you have to stay up to date and keep up with the changing trends (or else you won’t be around for long).

And since you most likely don’t have the time to go searching for the best content yourself - it’s our hope that these weekly nuggets of content will save you time and give you the edge you need to kick ass with your business (and destroy the competition).

Let’s get started…

WHY MOST PEOPLE FAIL TO MAKE MONEY ONLINE (AND THE ONE THING YOU CAN DO TO SUCCEED)

http://www.cloudliving.com/why-most-people-fail-to-make-money-online/

First thing first, we have a Cloud Living post to share - if you're struggling to make money online, make sure to give it a read.

It reveals the three most common mistakes made by newbies (and the one thing you can start doing tomorrow to double your odds of making money online).

WHY YOUR CONTENT SUCKS (AND WHAT TO DO ABOUT IT)

https://growandconvert.com/content-marketing/mirage-content/

This post serves as a good reminder of what high quality content really is.

Chances are, after you read it you’ll have to rethink your entire content marketing strategy. And that’ll be a good thing because it’ll give you a neck up on the competition.

Why?

Most bloggers and site owners don’t create compelling and high quality content – they create mirage content instead (and that’s why their websites suck and they can’t generate leads).

Here’s an example on the left:

Look around the internet and you’re bound to see bland, rehashed, and unoriginal content like the piece above on almost every website.

It’s a major problem because readers don’t care for this ‘fluff’ – readers want real content that helps them solve real problems.

So how can you give your content a boost?

Start by reading this post – it highlights the difference between mirage content and compelling authentic. Then follow the author’s suggestions and you’re bound to create higher quality content, generating you a lot more leads.

ON LINK BUILDING

https://www.authorityhacker.com/buy-contextual-links/

The above is a good piece from Perrin of Authority Hacker on how you can spend money to get links by building a system.

Be warned though…

This post comes out swinging with a very entertaining rant that exposes most SEO practitioners for following the lazy (and ineffective) link-building route (it’s worth the read just for the rant alone).

But there’s a lot more to it than just that – it reveals the key difference between buying links and spending money to get links.

Yes! There’s a big difference between the two and once you recognize it, you’ll be able to create a very effective link building strategy going forward (plus…you’ll receive a copy/paste template you can use to launch your new link building strategy)

ON CONTENT MARKETING (AND QUICK ACTION PLANS)

http://authoritywebsiteincome.com/content-marketing-plan-quick-start/

If you’re just starting out with content marketing – you need a plan.

And not one of those generic, cookie-cutter, ‘no-purpose’ serving plans either – you need a highly actionable content marketing plan that gets results.

This post by Jon from Authority Website Income provides just that – it doesn’t get any easier than this.

NOT SURE HOW TO ROCK VIDEO SEO? HERE’S YOUR ANSWER…

http://backlinko.com/video-seo-guide

And if you want your videos to rank on YouTube or Google – you have to tame the beast.

ON SILOS

https://www.bruceclay.com/blog/seo-siloing-for-competitive-advantage/

Here’s a great article showing you how Siloing your site can improve your site’s ranking, relevancy and usability.

What’s even better is as mentioned by the author, majority of the brands (even bigger brands) aren’t utilizing this strategy.

What does this mean for you?

It means if you learn to build an optimal Silo for your site – you could carve out a very strong competitive advantage. And crush your competitors.

Give it a read and you’ll learn the basics of Siloing – plus you’ll also discover both the wrong way and the right way to build your website. It’ll completely change your approach to website building – I can’t recommend it enough.

great post Amtej!

I have a question about the linkbuilding. I see that Tung Trung, links to his thankyourskin site.

Isn’t this kinda bad in google’ eyes? As it seems like grey hat PBN tactic.

The reason why I ask this is because I share hosting with my brother and we do want to link to eachother. Not for spammy link but to really ad value to eachothers site.

So would it be wise to link to websites that are comming from the same hosting?

It’s totally fine to link from my website to another to cross promote. No worry at all. There are thousands of sites on each shared hosting and the same thing would happen.

Really interesting topics and very nice roundup especially the selling shirt part

I will give it a go and see how it’s work. but I think this is a small market overall and I don’t think Amazon will open it like FBA and with time they will stop letting people without big name and designers to this market

What do you think Tung??

I think it’s better to build assets like a website which generates traffic. When you have the traffic you can point it to anywhere you want. I don’t want my biz to be too dependant on Amazon.

Thanks for the round up of interesting articles. I really enjoyed reading about the Amazon t-shirt business making 10k a month. I applied to merch over a month ago, but haven’t gotten any notifications yet. Not sure how long the wait process is now, but it seems like a huge opportunity if you can get into the program.
